The inspiration…

This is the child-like me having lunch with my friends. In actuality, it is my latest character, Jacq. Jacq has celiac disease and is learning to accept the changes in her diet but also to emotionally feel included in the social setting of school. It is a well written story that helps empower all those children who have the auto-immune celiac disease. As a person who is gluten intolerant and being the mother of a celiac daughter, I know what exclusion feels like first hand. And, it stinks. I wanted to create a positive perspective to share with others about what inclusion can truly look like and how it creates an environment full of kindness and caring.

Ritter means Knight:

The name Ritter in German means Knight, so think of me as a female knight using my sword to write children’s books with a purpose. The first purpose being to educate children of a valuable lesson or moral by way of humor, related to their level of mindset, but still challenging them to think and question. The second purpose to my writing is to provide an educational book for teachers that they can use in the classroom. And my final purpose is to help children feel empowered about who they are!
